In June 2011 the Blue Flag was awarded to Enniscrone Beach by An Taisce. This is an international award that represents water quality, cleanliness, safety and environmental protection. Furthermore the beach has also received the Green Beach award in recognition of the excellent water quality and environmental management.
Swimming
The long shallow beach is the perfect place for a leisurely dip or energetic swim. A long section of the beach is patrolled by lifeguards, and is clearly marked with red/yellow flags.
Surfing
Enniscrone's safe shallow beach is idyllic for novice or intermediate surfers to practice their craft. The reef break to the right of the pier is more challenging for the experienced surfer.
Two surf schools on the beach provide all the the equipment and training required to try out this fantastic sport.
Fishing
The fresh clean waters of Killala bay is home to many species of fish, so Enniscrone is ideally placed to appeal to anyone with an interest in fishing. There is a choice of options from casually fishing at the pier for mackeral to a full day angling trip in search of shark! We are 15 minutes from Ballina, where the world famous Moy holds huge appeal for Salmon fishers. If fresh water fishing is more your thing, then the unrivalled Lough Conn awaits less than 40 minute drive.
Walking
The 5km beach is beautiful for a bracing morning walk whatever the weather, or indeed for a more leisurely stroll. The new Coastal Walk 1.5km along the cliff tops gives you breathtaking views over Killala Bay.
Rock pools
A favourite part of every childs holiday is the visits to the rock pools, and Enniscrone's rock pools offer great opportunity to see crabs, mussels, limpets, anenomes, and lots of other shore life. While away an hour or two with a net and bucket
